RE: Error 0x143 ~Umberto Nongeroson 15.Aug.03 02:53 PM a Web browser Domino Server 6.0.1Windows 2000
The most common cause of this problem is the following scenario: You are running a 3rd party application which hooks into Domino's shared memory space. Norton AntiVirus can do this and others too. Then the server crashes, NSD runs and terminates all of the server processes. When the next attempt is made to restart (either automatically via Fault Recovery or manually) the server will exit with error 0x143 because the memory hasn't been released and it realized that some other process is still doing something with the memory, so it exits. If Fault Recovery is enabled it will automatically try again, but it will never succeed because the process that is holding the memory is never going to be terminated.
Unfortunately there is currently no solution to this problem. You must logout or reboot. You can try terminating other applications, but that is a hit or miss proposition. There may be other causes of this error, but this is the only one that we are currently aware of.
